Issue 2/3(1998) - The 14 Emeralds
Knuckles was grabbing a rest before entering the terrible Doomsday Zone. He had been out all that day collecting the 7 emeralds, and was now ready for the finale. As he entered the zone though, he was ambushed by Crobotonike (or Robotnik as you know him). Knuckles tried to quickly release the emeralds energy, however Robotnik blasted them. They shattered all over the island. Knuckles quickly exited the Doomsday Zone, and rushed off to collect them all again. However upon returning, he saw Claws.
"Hi Claws! So where are you going on this excellent sunny day?", Asked Knuckles. "I'm gonna challenge Crobotonike in the Doomsday Zone!", replied Claws. "How can you? I've got the 7 Emeralds!", replied Knuckles. "No I have!", argued Claws. They both pulled out 7 emeralds, each expecting the other to be wrong. "How can there be 14?", asked Claws. "Well, it must have been when Crobotonike ambushed me. It must have shattered the emeralds. Can we join them back together?", asked Knuckles. The two of them tried sticking the halves back together, but it was no use. "We must go and get the Great Emerald!", decided Knuckles. Knuckles and Claws headed towards the ancient temples of the Aquatic Temples Zone, where the Great Emerald was secretly kept. When they arrived, they realised they were too late. Robotnik had the emerald under his spaceship. "Nooo! We'll get you for this Crobotonike!", shouted Knuckles, shaking his fist and jumping up and down on the spot. "Follow the vapour trail!", shouted Claws. Knuckles and Claws ran after the spaceship to try and retrieve the emerald...
